Next month, we will mark the most important date on the LittlePod calendar. October 17^th, International Real Vanilla Day. We’re preparing to celebrate in style…

Since the inaugural IRVD in 2020 – this a global occasion that succeeded National Real Vanilla Day, an event that LittlePod pioneered in 2014 – we’ve spent October 17^th alongside some our favourite people in some of our favourite places.

It first began here in Farringdon and, although Covid protocols limited our launch, we still managed to take afternoon tea together as we engaged online with LittlePodders from all over the world…

In 2021, we hosted a weekend staycation at beautiful Bickleigh Castle, whilst 12 months later, the LittlePod team travelled to London as we raised a toast to REAL vanilla at Chelsea Physic Garden – our favourite corner of the capital.

On each occasion, we’ve ventured a little further afield.

For 2023, we’re going to spread our wings like never before as we travel to Bali to celebrate with Dr Made Setiawan – our vanilla farmer – and his team at the LittlePod orchard in Indonesia.

It promises to be another occasion to savour…

Here at LittlePod HQ, we could not be more excited!

Earlier this summer, we provided a progress report from our innovative orchard, where Made’s pioneering polyculture system allows the precious vanilla crop to be cultivated sustainably, giving the farming communities a financial incentive to preserve the fragile environment around them.

The LittlePod orchard has grown to 50 hectares, allowing us to bring our own vanilla pods to market. Having built a state-of-the-art curing and conditioning facility, the LittlePod orchard has a team of 35 workers in Indonesia and our Campaign for Real Vanilla continues to go from strength to strength both at home and abroad.

For Janet, Paul, Debbie and Dave, who will head to Bali next month, the chance to spend October 17th alongside our farmers and amongst the vanilla vines – and to thank Made and his team for all their efforts and endeavours – means this will be an International Real Vanilla Day like never before.
